Ways to achieve our objectives

  1. In class: Relax. Connect what you are learning to what you have encountered in your everyday life. It's great if you speak loudly and accurately, but in a free-chat session just chat freely without worrying too much about tone or pronunciation. Most of the time, you speak much better than you realize.

  2. At home: After each session, go over and read out what you practiced during the previous session and complete the assignments. Test yourself on what you've learned. For short-term memories acquired in class to become long-term memories, revision is crucial.

  3. Daily life: Try out the Cantonese expressions with the locals. Sometimes they get it; sometimes they do not. During your learning process you'll find the locals understand what you're saying more and more. On the other hand, observe what they say. Connect them to what you have been practicing. Real-life practice is both a way and the purpose of language learning.
